Women and Men's Cross Country

The women's cross country team entered this year’s NJCAA DII National Championship in Richmond, Va. ranked 10 nationally, but pulled off a 7th place finish for the second consecutive year against a strong field of 41 colleges.

The annual Run with the Bobcats 5K was held at the West Campus on Sunday. The race had 78 finishers running throughout the campus. Jaime Candelaria won the 3.1-mile race with a time of 15:37.3 and Emelyn Lacour was the overall female winner recording a fantastic time of 18:43.6.

Men and Women's Cross Country

It's a big week for the cross country teams. The women's cross country team won the FCSAA DII Region 8 championship in Tallahassee this past Friday, October 25. It was the program's seventh title in the past nine years.

The athletic programs are back in full gear after their seasons were delayed from Hurricane Milton. In other news, the softball team completed the athletic departments Adopt-A-Road cleanup over the weekend by collecting 18 trash bags and 2 recyclables.

All athletic events were canceled as Hurricane Helene moved up the West Coast of Florida last week. Thoughts and prayers go out to so many affected by the hurricane. Athletic Directors will be meeting on Monday to discuss rescheduling the games that were canceled.

The women’s softball team improved to 7-8 on the season after sweeping St. Petersburg College 4-2 and 5-1 at the West Campus on Friday, February 16. The team bounced back from a road loss to Daytona State College on Tuesday, February 13 after falling 4-2 and 5-1.

It was a great end to the fall 2023 semester as our athletic programs once again excelled in the classroom. Our seven programs combined for a 3.136 grade point average that included nineteen student-athletes earning 4.0 GPAs.

The athletic program welcomed our student-athletes on Monday, August 21 with our annual meet and greet event. The men's baseball team won the 2022-23 Bobcat Award for highest team grade point average. The 3.38 average edged out the softball team.
