Women’s Volleyball Team Starts Conference Play, Loses Matches Against SCF & St. Petersburg College
The PHSC Women’s Volleyball Team opened Sun-Lakes Conference play with three hard-fought matches and will look to build momentum as the season continues.
On September 1, the Bobcats competed in an away match against Hillsborough Community College (2-3). However, with the Bobcats and Hawks being tied 1-1 entering the third set, the contest was halted due to floor conditions. The match is rescheduled for September 15 at 5 p.m. EST.
On September 4, PHSC faced State College of Florida and the Manatees (1-4). SCF would defeat the Bobcats in a 3-1 final.
The following day, September 5, the Bobcats would take on St. Petersburg College (4-2). The Titans got the edge over the Bobcats as PHSC would lose the match 3-0 to wrap up the week.
PHSC currently has a 5-5 overall record and 0-2 in conference play entering this week. The Bobcats are looking to reset and will compete in their first home game of the season against South Florida State College (1-3) on September 9 at 6 p.m. EST.
Women’s Soccer Team Faces Polk State in Rematch, Loses Game 7-1
PHSC showed determination in its series rematch against Polk State College as the team continues to push for its first win of the season. (4-1-1).
The Bobcats were unable to get the job done as they would lose 7-1 in the contest. At the 54:00 mark in the second half, Giada Chechile scored PHSC’s only goal of the contest via penalty kick.
Despite the setback, the Bobcats look ahead as their next match on the pitch will be with Meridian Community College on September 8 in Pensacola, FL. The scheduled start time is 10 a.m. EST.
Men & Women’s Cross-Country Teams Compete in Florida Intercollegiate Invitational, Finish First Among JUCO Colleges
The 2026-27 cross-country season got underway as Pasco-Hernando State College participated in the Florida Intercollegiate Invitational on September 4.
In the 5K, the men’s cross-country team finished tenth overall and were ranked first among all JUCO programs. Individually, veteran Zachary Townsend was the Bobcats’ top runner with a recorded time of 16:10.
Meanwhile, the women’s cross-country team also finished first among all junior colleges and sixteenth overall in the race. Individually, freshman Ainsley Asechleman led the Bobcats with a time of 20:20, with sophomore Isabella Quinlan closely behind at 20:22.
The Bobcats will travel to Tallahassee, FL, to compete in the FSU Open on September 18 at Apalachee Regional Park.
Men & Women’s Cross-Country Teams Rank in Top 15 Nationally in Preseason Poll
PHSC’s men’s and women’s cross-country teams are making an impression on the national stage as the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USFFCCCA) released their preseason poll this past week.
On the women’s side, the Bobcats rank twelve in the nation. Meanwhile, the men’s squad sits at thirteen in the rankings. Notably, PHSC is one of two Florida-based programs to sit in the top fifteen nationally in both men’s and women’s programs.
Pasco-Hernando State College is coming off a very strong season for both teams as they competed in the NJCAA DII Cross Country Championships, with each team finishing in the top twenty overall.
