Women’s Volleyball Team Kicks Off Season with Open-Weekend Tournament, Finishes Weekend with 3-3 Record

The Women’s Volleyball Team started the regular season with a bang as they competed in the Open-Weekend Tournament. 

On August 21, PHSC kicked off the day with a 3-1 victory over the Lake Region State College Royals. The Bobcats showcased an effective offense with five players recording five or more kills, including veteran Alanis Colon, who led the pack with nine kills. Notably, setter Alana Carter notched 12 assists during the contest. 

The following match, PHSC was defeated 3-0 by the #8 ranked St. Clair County Community College Skippers. 

On August 22, the Bobcats rebounded with back-to-back shutout wins against South Suburban College and Waubonsee Community College.

On the final day of the tournament, August 23, PHSC lost both their matches in shutout fashion between Parkland Community College and Mott Community College to finish the weekend. 

In the first six games of the season, the Bobcats currently have a 3-3 overall record and sit fifth in the Sun-Lakes Conference. 

PHSC will compete in an away doubleheader between USC Lancaster and Santa Fe College on Saturday, August 29 in Gainesville, FL. The matches are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST and 5 p.m. EST.

Men’s Baseball Team Wins Athletic Academic Award

The Men’s Baseball team has won the PHSC Athletic Academic Award after posting a team GPA of 3.39. The team was awarded during the Athletics-Wide Welcome Back Meeting on Monday, August 17. 

Notably, PHSC Athletics has had four teams produce a GPA of 3.00 or higher during the spring semester.
