Men’s Basketball Team Beats FSCJ, Secures First FCSAA Championship Bid Since 2021. Falls Short Against Palm Beach State College in Championship Game

The Men’s Basketball Team produced a strong showing during the 2026 FCSAA DII Men’s Basketball Championship in Jacksonville, FL.

On February 27, PHSC took on the #2 seed and reigning champions, Florida State College of Jacksonville Manta Rays (18-11). The Bobcats would upset FSCJ 72-63 and secure their first championship appearance since 2021.

The Bobcats execution at the free throw line (80.0 FT %) and defensive pressure against FSCJ (11 steals) contributed to their success in the semi-final contest

The following day, February 28, the Bobcats took on the #1 seed and nationally ranked NJCAA DII #1 Palm Beach State College Panthers (31-1). PHSC put up a valiant effort but lost 81-55 against PBSC.

PHSC ends their season with a 13-19 overall record and a 3-6 conference record, marking a bright turnaround by first-year head coach Phil Gaffney.

Malcolm Warthen & Joseph Stosh Named FCSAA DII All-Tournament Team Members

PHSC Athletics would like to congratulate Malcolm Warthen and Joseph Stosh for being selected into the FCSAA DII All-Tournament Team!

Malcolm Warthen was a dominant force for PHSC and helped the Bobcats secure their first championship bid since 2021. In the semi-final contest with FSCJ, Warthen produced a tournament-record 36 points, tied both the free throw record (10) and free throw attempts (13), respectively.

Joseph Stosh provided strong defense and offensive maneuverability for the Bobcats including 73 defensive rebounds (second among conference players) and going 44-90 from field goal range (fourth among conference players).

Malcolm Warthen Named a Member of the 2026 DII Men’s Basketball All-FCSAA Team

PHSC Athletics would like to congratulate Malcolm Warthen for being selected into the 2026 DII Men’s Basketball All-FCSAA Team!

At the time of his nomination, Warthen played in 28 games, averaging an FCSAA-best 15.5 points and 4.2 assists per game.

Men’s Baseball Team Extends Win Streak to Three, Sweeps Lake Sumter State College in Inter-Conference Series

The Bobcats continued their positive momentum extending their win streak to three and sweeping conference rival Lake Sumter State College.

On February 27, PHSC took on Lake Sumter State College (11-13). The Bobcats beat the Lakehawks 7-2 in a rain-shortened seven inning game. PHSC scored a combined 5 RBIs, producing six hits and two HRs from the bat of Sebastian Berrios. On the pitching side, Gavin Gargiulo and Derek Westfall struck out a combined eight batters during the contest.

On February 28, the Bobcats finished the three-game series with a home doubleheader at WREC Park against Lake Sumter State College. In their first game, PHSC won 11-1, producing 12 hits and a total of 10 RBIs from players such as Bradon Durfee, Sebastian Berrios, Juan Lopez and Michael Greenberg. Pitching maintained their dominance with starter Gavin Zassenbraker striking out four batters and limiting the Lakehawks to just two hits. In the second game, PHSC won 3-2 in 11 innings behind strong pitching performances from Hector Escobar and Isaac Palacios. Notably, Vance Celiberti came up in the bottom of the 11th to hit a walk off homerun to win the game and securing the sweep over Lake Sumter State College.

The Bobcats currently have a 5-1 conference record and a 15-7 overall record entering this week. Their next scheduled game will be on March 6 at Palm Beach State College (17-6). The expected start time is 2 p.m. EST.

Bradon Durfee Named FCSAA DII Baseball Player of the Week for Second Straight Week

PHSC Athletics would like to congratulate Bradon Durfee for being named the FCSAA DII Baseball Player of the Week!

Bradon Durfee is a sophomore outfielder for PHSC who is currently batting .357, has produced 19 RBIs, 30 hits and 5 HRs this season.

Notably, Bradon Durfee was on the National championship-winning team last season and was named Tournament MVP at the NJCAA DII World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.

Women’s Softball Team Drops Two Against Florida Gateway College, Wins Final Game Over Timberwolves

The Women’s Softball Team dropped two against FGC before turning the tides and putting on an impressive win over the Timberwolves this past weekend.

On March 1, PHSC finished their delayed game from Saturday, February 28, and competed in a doubleheader with Florida Gateway College (7-11) at Withlacoochee River Electric Co-Op Park.

The Bobcats completed their first game with FGC and lost 9-5. It marked their eleventh loss of the season for PHSC.

In Game 1 of the doubleheader, the Bobcats lost 4-0 in the afternoon contest. In Game 2, PHSC won their first game of the regular season thus far with a 9-1 victory.

The Bobcats now sit with a 1-12 overall record and look to build momentum with a home doubleheader against Oakland Community College later this week on March 4. The expected start times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. EST.
