Men’s Basketball Team Loses to FSCJ, Bounces Back with Victory Over FGC to Finish Regular Season
The Men’s Basketball Team splits games with conference rivals this week as conference play officially comes to close.
On February 18, PHSC played their final home conference game against Florida State College of Jacksonville (18-10). Despite a valiant effort, the Bobcats fell short, losing 70-63. However, Malcolm Warthen and Joseph Stosh led the team in scoring 27 and 15 points respectively. PHSC would sit with an 11-18 overall record and a 2-6 conference record.
On February 21, PHSC traveled to Florida Gateway College (10-16) for their last game of the regular season. The Bobcats emerged victorious in a nail-biting contest, securing a final score of 85-82. Notably, Brandyn Seldomridge and Malcolm Warthen both went four-of-four in field goal range. With this win, PHSC concluded the regular season with a 12-18 overall record and a 3-6 conference record.
The Bobcats will now compete in the 2026 FCSAA DII Men’s Basketball Tournament in Jacksonville, FL on February 27 and 28.
Men’s Baseball Team Extended Win Streak to Six Games While Holding onto Number 1 National Ranking. Defeats Five National Ranked Opponents in a Row
The Bobcats continued their positive momentum extending their win streak to six before falling short against South Florida State College this past weekend.
On February 17, PHSC took on NJCAA Division I third ranked Florida Southwestern State College (14-4) at WREC Park on the West Campus. The Bobcats beat the Bucs 11-3 in commanding fashion. PHSC scored a combined 8 RBIs, producing 11 hits, and two HRs from the bats of Vance Celiberti and Bradon Durfee to seal the deal.
On February 20, the Bobcats participated in a three-game series away against NJCAA Division II 19th ranked South Florida State College (11-7). In their first game, PHSC won 21-10, breaking the tie in the bottom half of the eighth inning and cementing the victory with seven more runs in the ninth. The win marked the highest number of runs scored in a single game this season since February 13 during their 16-2 win over Heartland Community College.
On February 21, PHSC and South Florida State College competed in a doubleheader at WREC Park. In Game 1, the Bobcats won 3-1 and extend their win streak to six games. In Game 2, PHSC lost 6-2 and ended the three-game series with two wins over the Panthers.
The Bobcats currently have a 2-1 conference record and a 12-7 overall record entering this week. Their next scheduled game will be on February 27 at Lake Sumter State College (10-10). The expected start time is 1 p.m. EST.
Women’s Softball Team Remains Winless, Competes in Courtney Miller Invitational
The Women’s Softball Team continues to build on improvements despite being winless thus far into the season.
On February 17, PHSC competed in a doubleheader with Florida Southwestern State College (15-3) at Withlacoochee River Electric Co-Op Park. In Game 1, the Bobcats lost 14-2 in the afternoon contest. Notably, Gabriella Greco and Taylor Schultze produced the only RBIs for the Bobcats. In Game 2, PHSC lost 10-1, pushing the Bobcats to six games without a win. A RBI by Hannah Lopez scored the only run for the Bobcats.
The Women’s Softball Team then competed in four games during a two-day stretch at the Courtney Miller Invitational. On February 20, PHSC took on Indian River State College (16-2) and was shut out by the opposition in a 10-0 loss. The following game, the Bobcats competed with Seminole State College of Florida (11-1), producing a strong effort but falling short and losing 3-2.
On February 21, the Bobcats took on Enterprise State Community College (5-11). PHSC lost the game 6-3 in ten innings. Lastly, the Bobcats wrapped up the tournament with a game against Tallahassee State College (7-14), losing 10-9 in eight innings.
The Bobcats now sit with a 0-10 overall record and look to reset with an away contest against Florida Gateway College (3-10) later this week on February 27. The expected start time is 1 p.m. EST.
