Men’s Basketball Team Loses at Home Against FSCJ, Produces Massive Away Win Over Florida Gateway
The Men’s Basketball Team sits in a wide-open field after an even stretch between conference rivals.
On January 28, PHSC took on Florida State College of Jacksonville (15-7), losing at home 86-77. Key issues like turnovers and fouls troubled the Bobcats in the second half, leading to their fourth loss at home this season.
The following game, on January 30, the Bobcats traveled to Florida Gateway College (9-12) for a pivotal contest. The Bobcats won 96-90 with important contributions from Ben Koubek (24 points), Malcom Warthen (11 assists) and Joseph Stosh (4-4 from free-throw line).
With the win, PHSC, FGC and FSCJ are currently tied with a 1-2 conference record. Palm Beach State College is the only team in the Sun-Lakes Conference who remains undefeated with a 3-0 conference record.
The Bobcats will now face Palm Beach State College (23-1) on Wednesday, February 4. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
Men’s Baseball Team Wins Over College of Central Florida, Goes 1-2 Against Polk State College
The Bobcats started the week strong with a win against Nationally Ranked College of Central Florida before falling into an uneven stretch against Polk State College.
On Tuesday, January 27, the Bobcats faced #9 DI-Ranked College of Central Florida (2-4), winning 8-2 during the afternoon contest. Notably, starting pitcher Gavin Zassenbraker threw six strikeouts in five innings pitched and allowed just two hits. The offense continued to demonstrate their rapid firepower, with RBIs from Bradon Durfee (2), Sebastian Berrios, Vance Celiberti, Jovanni Castellano and Eduardo Morales (2), leading to their third win of the regular season.
PHSC would then travel to Polk State College (5-2) on January 30 and lose 17-7 in seven innings. The following day, Saturday, January 31, PHSC took on Polk State College in a home doubleheader. In Game 1, the Bobcats edged out the Eagles 6-5 in seven innings. In Game 2, PHSC fell short losing 8-7 and find themselves with a current 4-3 overall record. Their next scheduled game is on Tuesday, February 3 against State College of Florida (3-4) in Bradenton, Florida. The expected start time is 5 p.m. EST.

The Women’s Softball Team Shows Strong Offense, Falls Short Against SPC & Georgia Military College
The Lady Bobcats produced a strong offensive showing in their first two games of the regular season. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t capitalize as they lost both games and start the season with a 0-2 overall record.
On January 30, PHSC took on St. Petersburg College (1-2), losing 19-13 in eight innings. The following game, the Lady Bobcats competed with Georgia Military College (3-1), falling short and losing 10-7 in eight innings.
The team is tied with Florida Gateway College (0-2) and South Florida State College (0-2) inside the Sun-Lakes Conference.
The next game for the Women’s Softball Team is a doubleheader at Eastern Florida State College (4-0) on Wednesday, February 4. Expected start times are 1 p.m. EST and 3 p.m. EST.
