Phil Gaffney Named Assistant Athletic Director for PHSC

PHSC Athletics is excited to announce that Phil Gaffney, Men’s Basketball Head Coach, is named Assistant Athletic Director of Pasco-Hernando State College. 

Gaffney provides a wealth of experience, including being a previous athletic director for Georgia Highlands College and Guilford Technical Community College in his 30-plus-year career.

Women’s Soccer Splits Series Against Pensacola State College

The Women’s Soccer Team splits series with Pensacola State College amid mixed results as the season winds down. 

On October 17, PHSC took on the Lady Pirates, losing 3-0 and marking their sixth loss of the season.

The following day, October 18, the Lady Bobcats produced their third draw of the season against Pensacola State College with a final score of 2-2. Notably, Ali Goines and Klarissa Zawosky scored for PHSC in the early-morning contest.

The team currently has a 4-6-3 overall record and will face Saint Leo University JV on October 23 at 4 p.m. EST.  

Women’s Volleyball Produces Back-To-Back Wins Amid Playoff Push

The Women’s Volleyball Team hits their stride after their hard loss against St. John’s River State College last week.  

On October 15, PHSC took on St. Petersburg College and won with a shutout score of 3-0. The following match, on October 17, the Lady Bobcats traveled to face the Manatees of State College of Florida, pushing the game to five sets and winning 3-2. 

The Bobcats currently sit seventh in the Sun-Lakes Conference amid a playoff push.  

Their next match is against Indian River State College at the West Campus in Building K on October 22 with a start time of 6 p.m. EST. 

NJCAA DII World Series MVP Bradon Durfee Commits To University of Kansas

One of last year’s standout athletes, Bradon Durfee from Tampa, Florida, has committed to the University of Kansas, a power-four school. Durfee was a key player on the Men’s Baseball Team that won the NJCAA DII World Series during the 2024-25 season. Notably, he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

PHSC Athletics extends its heartfelt wishes for his future athletic and career endeavors. 

Bobcats 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk Information

Pasco-Hernando State College invites you to participate in our annual Cross Country 5K Run and 1 Mile Bobcat Trot on Sunday, November 2 at 8 a.m. EST. The race will take place on the PHSC West Campus (10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, 34654). Enjoy a flat, fast course perfect for runners of all levels.

The event is hosted by the PHSC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams and features:

  • 5K Run with overall male/female and age group awards
  • 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on the scenic Wellness Trail
  • Free race shirt for all participants (shirt size not guaranteed)
  • Post-race refreshments
  • Discounted entry fees for students and children
