The Bobcats have been busy before and throughout spring break!

Men's Baseball

The Bobcats won their weekend opener at home against conference foe Palm Beach State College, 3-1, on Friday evening, March 7. The Cats split their doubleheader against the Panthers that Saturday afternoon, a 2-0 loss in Game One and 5-3 walk-off win in Game Two.

PHSC came out of the weekend tied for the lead in Sun-Lakes Conference standings at 7-2 in conference, 18-8 overall.

Michael Savarese had another stellar week for the Cats with nine strikeouts across six innings of work against the Panthers on Friday, March 7. Savarese earned his fourth FCSAA D2 Pitcher of the Week honor as well after a complete-game shutout victory against Lake-Sumter State College. The former Hernando High School product is 5-0 with 42.1 innings pitched, a 0.21 ERA and 57 strikeouts through seven starts.

The Bobcats opened spring break week with a strong 9-2 victory over University of Tampa JV on Tuesday, March 11. The Cats would sweep their conference tilt against #8 St. Johns River State College on Friday, 12-7, and on Saturday, 5-1 and 9-1 in 7 innings.

Anthony Cole went 3-4 on Tuesday night’s win against UT JV with a homer to his credit while Fano Cruz went 3-5. Five players had multi-hit performances on Friday night with Grant Jordan and Bryce Habuda picking a pair of three-hit games which included homers.

The Bobcats now sit atop the Sun Lakes Conference in 1st and jumped 21 stops to sit #3 in the NJCAA D2 rankings.

The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday, March 18 against University of Tampa JV at 7 p.m. PHSC continues conference play this weekend against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Friday at 3 p.m. with a Saturday doubleheader at Noon and 3 p.m.

Women's Softball

The Bobcats dropped their conference series all three matchups week to #3 St. John’s River State College on March 7 and 8. The Cats fell 6-1 in Friday’s series opener, while dropping the doubleheader on Saturday, 13-1 and 17-2. 

Over spring break, the Bobcats swept the weekend against State College of Florida beginning on Friday, March 14, with an 11-0 win in 5 and on Saturday, 8-6 and 5-4.

Iriana Diaz went 2-4 in Game Two of Friday’s contest with a home run. Diaz also had a double in Friday night’s performance.

The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday, March 18 versus New College of Florida at 4 and 6 p.m. The Cats continue conference play this weekend against Lake Sumter State College on Friday, March 21 at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

Women's Flag Football

PHSC Women’s Flag Football secured their first win of the program’s history on Saturday, March 8 against Atlantis University, 20-0, and dropped the afternoon finale to Barry University, 25-14. The Cats continued their weekend at the UCF Tournament with a tripleheader, on Sunday, March 9. The Bobcats fell in all three games: 32-7 to Florida Atlantic, 27-6 to the University of Florida and 26-6 to the University of Central Florida.

Over spring break, the Bobcats dropped their opener of the week against Webber International, 40-6. The Cats fell in their second game of the doubleheader, 60-0, to Thomas University. The team dropped both of Friday’s matchups, 26-0 against St. Thomas (FL) and 69-0 against Keiser. The final game of the game finished in a 53-0 loss to Warner.

The team is off for two weeks before returning to action against Daytona State for the program’s first-ever home game against Daytona State on April 2.
