Women’s and Men’s Cross Country
It was a quiet week of sports action as our student-athletes prepared for finals, but it did not stop sophomore runner Tom Palamar from winning the Hot Chocolate 15K race in Tampa on Sunday, December 10. Palamar finished the 9.3-mile course in 52:34 (5:39/mile) that had 714 participants in the race. In the 10K race, our very own head coach Jacki Waller won the women’s 10K race. Waller finished with a time of 42:04 (6:47/mile) after coming off a hamstring injury that kept her out of action the past few weeks. Congratulations to both as they represented our strong cross country program.
Men’s Basketball
In other news, Pasco-Hernando State College will be the host site for the NCAA Division I Women’s Suncoast Challenge that runs from Tuesday, December 19 to Thursday, December 21. We are excited to have the University of Georgia, University of Pittsburgh, and Ball State University playing at the West Campus. Each of the games is played at noon with Ball State playing Pittsburgh on the 19, Georgia playing Pittsburgh on the 20, and Ball State playing Georgia on the 21. Tickets are $10 at the door. Last year was the first year of hosting the event, and it’s very exciting basketball.
