What an exciting weekend as the women’s softball team punched their ticket to Henrico, VA by defeating Florida State College at Jacksonville 5-0 in the NJCAA DII Region 8 Championship game. The best of three series began on Friday with a doubleheader at home. The Bobcats took the first game 8-0 behind Kylie Coffin’s five-inning four hitter and the big bats of Ashley Nickisher, Meghan Kimery and Taylor Tremmel. In the second game of the day, the Bobcats fell 3-2 managing only five hits. Meghan Kimery had three hits to lead the team. On Saturday, Kylie Coffin came back and pitched another shutout allowing the Blue Wave only five hits in the game. Jenna Gabrielli hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead and the team pretty much secured the victory by scoring two runs in the 4th and 5th innings. The Bobcats are now 28-17 on the season and head to the NJCAA DII Southeast District Tournament that runs May 11-14, 2022.
