Women’s Volleyball Snaps 12 Game Losing Streak with Back-To-Back Wins Over SCF & St. Petersburg College
The Bobcats finally broke through with key wins over State College of Florida and St. Petersburg College in the Sun-Lakes Conference.
To start the week, PHSC (7-15) faced Hillsborough College (10-6) on Wednesday, September 30. The Bobcats fell 3-0 against the Hawks, extending their active losing streak to twelve games.
On October 2, the Bobcats continued their homestand with a matchup game against State College of Florida (3-14).
PHSC took a comfortable 2-0 lead, winning the sets 25-14 and 25-19. In the third set, the Manatees pushed back, winning 25-22 and forcing a fourth set.
Entering the final third of the fourth set, the Bobcats bounced back via a strong 3-0 run after it was tied 21-21. Kamila Griffith secured the match-winning kill after the setup by fellow freshman Hayden Grossman, winning the match for PHSC with a score of 3-1.
With this victory, the Bobcats won their first home and conference match of the regular season.
To wrap up the weekend, the Bobcats took on St. Petersburg College and the Titans (9-7) on the West Campus and secured a 3-0 victory. The result marked the first shutout win by the Bobcats since August 29 [PHSC vs. USC Lancaster].
PHSC enters this week with a 7-15 overall record and 2-12 in conference play. The Bobcats will go on the road and meet South Florida State College on Wednesday, October 7. The match is expected to start at 6 p.m. EST.
Zachary Townsend Receives FCSAA Honors for a Second Straight Week
PHSC Athletics would like to recognize Zachary Townsend for being honored as the FSCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week!
Townsend led the Bobcats during the Twilight on Pr’Ville Meet on September 25, finishing with a time of 25:23 on the 8K course. The sophomore’s performance made history as his time broke the previous school record by 21 seconds.
Notably, this is the second time Townsend has received this honor in his collegiate career.
Ainsley Aeschleman Receives FCSAA WXC Runner of The Week Award
PHSC Athletics would like to recognize Ainsley Aeschleman for being honored as the FSCAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week!
Aeschleman performed very well during the Twilight on Pr’Ville Meet on September 25, clocking in the fastest time for PHSC with a 19:47 finish on the 5K course.
With her standout performance, the freshman earned her first FCSAA WXC Runner of the Week award of the season.

PHSC invites you to participate in our annual Cross Country 5K Run and Chip Waller's 1 Mile Run/Walk on Sunday, November 1 at 8 a.m. EST!
