Women and Men's Cross Country

The women's cross country team entered this year’s NJCAA DII National Championship in Richmond, Va. ranked 10 nationally, but pulled off a 7th place finish for the second consecutive year against a strong field of 41 colleges. Emelyn Lacour placed 17th overall with a time of 19:21.2 followed by Nathalia Mallo in 22nd (19:32.3), Carlie Ortiz 82nd (20:54.6) and Jaiden Wickert 94th (21:11.0). Head Coach Jacki Waller was named Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and Emelyn Lacour Atlantic Runner of the Year.

The men’s cross country team entered the championship ranked 20th, but ran a fantastic race finishing 13th in a field of 41. Jaime Candelaria finished 24 with a season best time of 26:14.6 followed by Dylan Powell (27:34.7) in 82 place. Both teams remain in Richmond to wrap up their season and will be participating in the NJCAA Half Marathon Championship on Tuesday, November 12.

Women's Volleyball

The women’s volleyball team (13-12, 11-4) season came to an end after falling to St. Petersburg College 3-2 at the FCSAA DII Volleyball Championship in Pensacola. Elizabeth McDonald, the two-time offensive player of the week, had 21 kills in the match and was named to the all-tournament team. McDonald also made the All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8 first-team announced at the banquet last Thursday, November 7.

Men's Basketball

The men's basketball team (1-1) opened their season with a 96-77 win over Ave Maria University JV last Tuesday, November 5. Lucson Jean led all scorers with 16 points followed by Calen Wiggins 15, Nick Pouliot 14 and Brian Jefferson 14. The team lost on the road to St. Petersburg College 79-59 on Thursday, November 7. This week’s games feature Florida Sports Coast on Monday the 11, and Hillsborough Community on Tuesday. Both games will start at 6 p.m.
