Men's Baseball
The #1-ranked Bobcats (46-10 Overall; 27-3 Sun-Lakes Conference) opened the FCSAA D-2 Region 8 State Tournament on Thursday afternoon, May 1, against the #4 seed, Lake-Sumter State College, securing a 4-3 win to advance to the next round of the winner’s bracket on Friday evening. The Bobcats then defeated the #3 seed, South Florida State College, 6-5, earning their first championship game berth since 2022, where they would again face the #4-seeded LakeHawks in the final. The Bobcats went on to defeat the LakeHawks, 2-0, clinching the team’s first D2 Region 8 crown since 2021 and securing a spot in next week’s NJCAA D2 South Division Championship against Wallace-Dothan Community College. Both games are scheduled for 5 p.m. EST on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10, with a decisive Game 3, if necessary, on Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m. EST.
Two Bobcats also received top individual tournament honors: Savarese was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Pitcher, while Juan Lopez earned the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award. Savarese threw a complete game in Thursday’s tournament opener, striking out nine and throwing 133 pitches. Lopez went 4-for-11 during the tournament, highlighted by a two-homer, three-hit performance on Friday that helped propel the Bobcats to the championship game.
Michael Savarese, Grant Jordan and head coach Lyndon Coleman also received top conference honors. Savarese, the 2025 FCSAA Sun-Lakes Conference Pitcher of the Year, finished the regular season with 14 starts, 11 wins (tied for the program record), just 10 earned runs allowed, 122 strikeouts, 24 walks, 82 innings pitched and a 1.09 ERA. Jordan, the 2025 FCSAA Sun-Lakes Conference Defensive Player of the Year, committed only three errors and recorded 95 assists and 55 putouts in 49 games played. Head coach Lyndon Coleman earned his fourth straight, and fifth overall, FCSAA Sun-Lakes Conference Coach of the Year honor in the past six seasons.
Women's Softball
The Bobcats (30-26 Overall; 15-15 Sun-Lakes Conference) dropped the opener of the FCSAA D-2 Region 8 State Tournament in Palatka to the #2 seed, Lake-Sumter State College, 11-2. The team then faced #4 seed, Florida Gateway College, on Friday but fell 9-3, ending their 2025 season.
