The #1-ranked Bobcats (48-10 Overall; 27-3 Sun-Lakes Conference) opened the week in the NJCAA D2 South Division Championship against Wallace-Dothan Community College on Friday, May 9, securing a 6-2 win over the Governors to take an early 1-0 series lead. On Saturday, May 10, PHSC wrapped up the three-game series with a 12-8 win, earning their spot in the NJCAA D2 College World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.
The World Series berth marks the third appearance for Pasco-Hernando State College and the first since 2019. Under Head Coach Lyndon Coleman, it is his second time leading the Bobcats to the World Series, having guided the 2019 team to a program-best third-place finish. The 2025 NJCAA D2 College World Series begins on Saturday, May 24, and runs through Saturday, May 31, with the Bobcats’ first opponent yet to be determined.
Michael Savarese also earned FCSAA and National NJCAA D2 Pitcher of the Week honors for the seventh time this season and the eighth of his career. He threw a complete game for the Bobcats in their FCSAA DII Baseball Championship opening-round win over Lake-Sumter State College, 4-3. Savarese struck out eight and allowed only one earned run.
