Men’s Baseball Team Builds Momentum with Win Over HCC, Stays Strong Against South Florida State College in Three Game Series

The Bobcats produced another successful week of baseball as nationally ranked #4 PHSC remained at the top of the Sun Lakes Conference standings with key victories over Hillsborough College (HC) and South Florida State College.

On March 24, the Men’s Baseball Team took on Hillsborough College (21-18) in Tampa, FL at George M. Steinbrenner Community field. The Bobcats secured a win with a 7-5 victory. Starting pitcher Nikolas Koorse struck out four batters and only allowed one hit in four innings pitched. Furthermore, the batting also provided the edge with Sebastian Berrios producing 4 RBIs during the contest.

On March 28, #4 PHSC kicked off a three-game series with South Florida State College (17-21). The Men’s Baseball Team played at WREC Park on the West Campus and won the conference contest 4-3 in extra innings. The following day, March 29, the Bobcats traveled to Avon Park, FL and finished the series with an away doubleheader. In Game 1, PHSC won 1-0 in seven innings. Gavin Zassenbraker pitched a complete game shutout. In Game 2, PHSC lost 11-8 to wrap up the weekend. The pitching regressed and allowed six runs during the seventh inning, ending the chance for a complete sweep over the Panthers.

The Bobcats currently sit with a 12-6 conference record, 22-14 overall record and still first in the Sun-Lakes Conference entering this week with a two-game lead over Palm Beach State College and Lake Sumter State College. Their next scheduled game will be on March 31 at Santa Fe College (16-19). The expected start time is 3 p.m. EST.

Vance Celiberti Named FCSAA DII Men’s Baseball Player of the Week!

PHSC Athletics would like to congratulate Vance Celiberti for being named FCSAA DII Men’s Baseball Player of the Week!

At the time of his nomination, he batted .471 (8-for-17) with six runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs in four games.

Women’s Softball Team Looks to Reset After Sweep By FSCJ, Continues Conference Play with South Florida State College

The Women’s Softball Team is looking to reset after their performance against Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ).

The Bobcats played FSCJ (20-17) in Jacksonville, FL. PHSC began their three-game series on Friday, March 28. They lost 18-0 in five innings against the Manta Rays, marking the fourth shutout loss this season for the College.

The following day, March 29, the Women’s Softball Team completed the three-game series with an away doubleheader. In Game 1, PHSC lost 4-1 with the bullpen allowing eight hits in seven innings. In Game 2, the Bobcats lost 6-2, dropping all three games against FSCJ and bringing up their current losing streak to four games.

The Bobcats now sit with a 2-23 overall record and 2-13 conference record entering this week. PHSC will take on South Florida State College (12-19) in a home contest at WREC Park on April 2. The expected start time is 4 p.m. EST.

Briana Browder Named FCSAA DII Women’s Softball Player of the Week!

PHSC Athletics would like to congratulate Briana Browder for being named FCSAA DII Women’s Softball Player of the Week!

At the time of her nomination, she batted .800 (8-for-10) with six runs scored, one double, two home runs, eight RBIs and one stolen base in just three games.
