Men's Baseball
The Bobcats (26-8) opened the week with a 10-7 win over the University of Tampa JV team, 10-7, on Tuesday night, March 18. PHSC kept their winning ways going into the weekend with a sweep against Florida State College at Jacksonville. The Bobcats took game one on Friday night, 9-0. The Cats would grab the final two games on Saturday, 5-3 and 4-3, to close out the weekend.
The Bobcats now sit ranked #2 in the most recent NJCAA rankings, the highest ranking in program history, and sit atop the standings of the Sun Lakes Conference.
Clay Thompson put together a strong week at the plate, finishing 5-13 with seven runs, two RBIs, a pair of doubles, a solo home run and three stolen bases. Michael Savarese also had a complete-game one-hitter on Friday night, featuring nine strikeouts.
Gavin Zassenbreaker earned FCSAA D2 Pitcher of the Week honors last week after a six-inning, eight-strikeout performance in the Bobcats win over St. Johns River State College on March 15th, 9-1. So far this season, Zassenbreaker has 12 appearances (eight starts) with a 6-1 record in 46 innings thrown, a 2.35 ERA and 48 strikeouts.
The Bobcats are on the road beginning Tuesday, March 25 against Hillsborough Community College at 2 p.m. The Cats stick on the road on Friday, March 28 against South Florida State College at 6 p.m. before return home to take on SFSC on Saturday afternoon at 1 and 4 p.m.
Women's Softball
The Bobcats (18-18; 4-8) swept New College of Florida on Tuesday, 10-9 in Game 1 and 11-2 in Game 2. The Cats would fall on Friday, March 21, series opener against Lake-Sumter State College, 4-2. The Bobcats dropped the final two games on Saturday afternoon, 11-1 in Game 1 and 8-1 in Game 2.
Iriana Diaz had a 4-4 performance on Tuesday night with two RBIs. Sydney Klein also went 3-4 with two RBIs in Game 2.
The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday, March 25 versus Augustana College at 4 & 6 p.m. The Cats continue conference play this weekend against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Friday, March 28 at 3 p.m. and Saturday the 29 at 12 & 2 p.m
Women's Flag Football
PHSC Women’s Flag Football team remains off this week before returning to action against Daytona State for the program’s first-ever home game against Daytona State on April 2nd at 6:30 p.m.
