Men’s Baseball Team Drops Away Game Against College of Central Florida, Wins Two of Three Game Series With FSCJ
The Bobcats have maintained their steady performance midway through this season. Despite a close loss to the College of Central Florida Patriots earlier in the week, PHSC bounced back by winning two games against the Florida State College of Jacksonville Manta Rays in a three-game series.
On March 12, PHSC took on College of Central Florida (22-12) in an away contest. The Bobcats lost 15-11 in nine innings. Even with strong bats from the likes of Sebastian Berrios (Triple, HR, 5 RBIs), they fell short. It marked the twelfth overall loss this season as PHSC looked to reset from their tough loss.
On March 20, the Bobcats started a three-game series at WREC Co-Op Park with their conference rival Florida State College of Jacksonville (16-16). PHSC won 9-2 in dominant fashion with 9 hits and 2 home runs from the Bobcats’ offense.
The following day, March 21, PHSC wrapped up the three-game series with a home doubleheader. In Game 1, the Manta Rays routed the Bobcats 11-4. The bullpen stalled and allowed a combined 13 hits, leading to their loss. In Game 2, the Bobcats would comeback from a 4-0 deficit to win 10-5 after breaking the tie in the seventh inning. Vance Celiberti sealed the deal with a three-run home run to right field and provided PHSC with their twentieth overall victory and tenth conference win of the year thus far.
The Bobcats currently sit with a 10-5 conference record, 20-13 overall record and first in the Sun-Lakes Conference entering this week. Their next scheduled game will be on March 24 at Hillsborough Community College (20-15). The expected start time is 6 p.m. EST.
