Men’s Baseball Team Wins Over Santa Fe in Dominant Fashion, Drops Three-Game Series with Lake-Sumter State College
The Bobcats started strong this past week with a win over Santa Fe College before dropping all three games in their conference series with Lake-Sumter State College.
The Men’s Baseball Team took on Santa Fe College (17-20) in an away contest on March 31. PHSC secured the victory over the Saints 15-3. Starting pitcher Nikolas Koorse provided a solid start for the Bobcats, striking out two batters and only allowing two hits in three innings pitched. Meanwhile, the offense added depth with PHSC totaling a combined 15 RBIs on 12 hits. Notably, Bradon Durfee and Sebastian Berrios produced individual home runs to seal the deal. The win marked the tenth game with 10 or more runs scored by PHSC this season.
On April 2, the Bobcats kicked off a three-game series with a home game against Lake-Sumter State College (28-16) at WREC Park. PHSC struggled early on with infield coordination issues and starting pitcher Gavin Garguilo allowing four hits. Despite the offense working on all cylinders in the later half of the game, such as RBIs by Bradon Durfee (2), Bradon Gonzalez (2) and Sebastian Berrios (6), the Bobcats fell short of a comeback and lost the series opener 13-12.
On April 3, PHSC finished the series with an away doubleheader in Leesburg, FL. In Game 1, the Bobcats lost 9-8 in seven innings. In Game 2, PHSC were defeated 10-5 by the Lakehawks and now sit with a three-game losing streak.
Even with the sweep by their conference rival, several players achieved multi-hit games during the series. Fellow Bobcats such as Sebastian Berrios, Bradon Durfee, Rocco DeMarinis and Vance Celiberti, to name a few.
The Bobcats currently sit 12-9 in conference and have a 24-17 overall record entering this week. Check the schedule to see upcoming games.
Sebastian Berrios Named FCSAA DII Baseball Player of the Week!

At the time of his nomination, March 31, Berrios batted .500 (8-for-16) with two runs scored and nine RBIs in four games.

At the time of his nomination, March 31, Zassenbraker had a powerhouse performance against South Florida State, striking out four batters in the 1-0 Bobcats’ victory.
Women’s Softball Team Loses Two Games Against South Florida State College, Wins Final Contest at Home
The Women’s Softball Team looks ahead after dropping two out of three games in their series with South Florida State College.
On April 1, PHSC started their three-game series with an away doubleheader against South Florida State College (14-20). In Game 1, the Bobcats were shutout 4-0 by the Panthers. In Game 2, PHSC put up a valiant effort but fell short 4-3 in seven innings.
On April 2, the Bobcats finished the series at WREC Park on the West Campus. PHSC secured the victory 4-3 over South Florida State, ending the three-game tenure with their third conference win of the season.
The Bobcats now sit with a 3-25 overall record and 3-15 conference record entering this week. PHSC will take on Florida Gateway College (13-25) in an away doubleheader on April 11. The expected start times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. EST.
