Men’s Baseball Team Clinches Postseason After Winning Series Against Florida State College of Jacksonville, Becomes #2 Seed In FCSAA DII Baseball Championship
The Men’s Baseball Team finishes the regular season on a high note as the Bobcats clinched a postseason appearance to the 2026 FCSAA DII Baseball Championship in Port Charlotte, FL.
On April 23, PHSC kicked off a three-game conference series against Florida State College of Jacksonville (26-24) at Howard Roey Field. Despite some strong hitting by Rocco DeMarinis (Double), Vance Celiberti (Double, HR, 2 RBIs) and Eduardo Morales (Double, RBI), an uneven start for pitcher Gavin Zassenbraker, including eight errors and three hits allowed, resulted in the Manta Rays winning 8-3 over PHSC to start the series.
On April 24, the Bobcats concluded their final regular season series with an away doubleheader. In Game 1, PHSC secured a 4-2 victory in seven innings over the Manta Rays. On the mound, starting pitcher Derek Westfall delivered 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, key RBIs by Vance Celiberti, Michael Greenberg and Bradon Gonzalez were instrumental to the win.
In Game 2, the Bobcats secured the series victory with a dominant 14-1 final. The pitching trio of Hector Escobar, Gavin Garjuilo and Nikolas Koorse allowed just seven hits with Escobar and Koorse delivering two strikeouts each in the contest. Meanwhile, the Bobcats produced strong at-bats with multiple RBIs by Michael Greenberg (2), Rocco DeMarinis (2) and Sebastian Berrios (4).
The Bobcats currently sit 18-12 in conference and have a 31-21 overall record entering this week. PHSC finished second in DII Sun-Lakes Conference and will be the #2 seed in the FCSAA DII Baseball Championship. Check the schedule to see upcoming games.
Women’s Softball Team Splits Series with Florida State College of Jacksonville, Drops Series Against South Florida State College to Finish Season
The Women’s Softball Team finished the regular season on uneven footing between Florida State College of Jacksonville and South Florida State College.
On April 21, PHSC competed in a home doubleheader against Florida State College of Jacksonville (29-23) at WREC Park. In Game 1, the Bobcats secured the victory with a 3-2 walk-off win over the Manta Rays. Strong pitching by Sophia Spengler, who struck out one batter and committed no errors, along with RBIs by Briana Browder and Mackenzie Quartararo, were critical to the win. In Game 2, PHSC lost 14-2 in five innings.
On April 25, PHSC partook in their final home doubleheader of the 2025-26 season at WREC Park. The Women’s Softball Team competed with South Florida State College (21-25). In Game 1, the Bobcats lost 7-1 to the Panthers. In Game 2, PHSC lost 10-0 to end the doubleheader.
The Bobcats finished the season with a 6-34 overall record and a 6-24 conference record.
Women’s Softball Team Honors Sophomores in Final Regular Season Game
On April 25, after their final game of the regular season, the Women’s Softball Team honored their fellow sophomores in a postgame ceremony.
Six sophomores, Jordan Merola, Hannah Gniadek, Sarah Tipton, Taylor Schultze Adielyz Rivera Luna and Sophia Spengler, played with PHSC this past season. The following players received special cards and flowers by coaches Kaci Vassallo and Alexandra Carroll.
