Women's Volleyball

Deann Wilson is in her ninth year as head coach of the PHSC women’s volleyball team, after spending 2017 as PHSC assistant coach, where she helped guide the Bobcats to a 7th place finish at the National Tournament.

The 2026 roster has added many new faces to the team, and lots of growth from the returning players. This team has already shown a lot of versatility, and a strong defensive presence. This will make for some exciting matches! We will start our season at the Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, IL. This is the largest NJCAA tournament in the country, with around 100 teams. We will play teams from around the country, and some of the top schools in the NJCAA. This will be a great way to prepare us for our very competitive Sun Lakes Conference schedule. 

The 2025 season was a young team, that missed the playoffs by one spot. We had 2 players receive 2nd Team All Sun Lakes Conference recognition. 
The 2024 season was a success with 7 sophomores, who made a strong showing on the season. The team qualified for post season for the second season in a row. Our leading player, Elizabeth McDonald,  was First Team All Sun Lakes Conference and FCSAA All State Selection. She was recognized as NJCAA D2 Third Team All-American, and ended a great career at PHSC.  This team had 3 players move on to continue playing at NCAA and NAIA schools, including McDonald, and teammates JaNiya Lamar and Mallori Grey.  

In 2023, Wilson’s team won the Sun Lakes Conference South Division and was recognized in the National Polls as receiving votes. Four players were voted All Conference and All State selections. Sophomore,  Kylie Ciani, was recognized as NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American.

In her first season as head coach, Wilson led the team to a Sun Lakes Conference Championship. Wilson was also named the 2018 Sun Lakes Conference Coach of the Year. Since 2018, Wilson has coached nineteen Sun Lakes Conference selections, and three NJCAA All-Americans, in Camden Bitter, Kylie Ciani and Elizabeth McDonald. Wilson has coached and guided seventeen athletes to continue playing at the NCAA/NAIA Division level.

Prior to joining the Bobcats, she was the head volleyball coach at Sunlake High School (Land O’ Lakes, Fla.) for four seasons (76-38 record). Wilson has received numerous honors, including 2015 Sunshine Athletic Conference East Coach of the Year, 2014 Sunshine Athletic Conference Coach of the Year; 2014 AVCA Class 5A Region Coach of the Year; and Tampa Bay Times Pasco County Volleyball Coach of the Year (2014). Her teams were district champions in both 2014 and 2015, and district runner up in 2016. She led the 2014 Sunlake team to a State Final Four appearance. Prior to her role at Sunlake, Wilson was the Varsity Assistant/JV Volleyball Coach at J.W. Mitchell High School (New Port Richey, Fla.) for two seasons (2002-2003).

Wilson began coaching volleyball in 1999 as the Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at Wilsonville High School, in Wilsonville, Ore. She helped guide that team to a 5th place state tournament finish in 2000. Wilson graduated from Western Oregon University (WOU), with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Psychology.  While at Western Oregon, Wilson was a two-sport athlete playing both volleyball and softball. The volleyball team was a nationally ranked team and qualified and played in the NAIA National Tournament in 1996 and 1997, where Wilson was a right-side hitter. Wilson has taught Physical Education/Health for the last 25 years in Pasco County, and at Florida Virtual School. She is currently an online instructor at Pasco eSchool.
 

Mark Sawyer begins his sixth year as the volleyball assistant coach for the Bobcats.  He brings 23 years of experience coaching at the Collegiate, Club and High School levels, including 8 years as a collegiate head coach.  He has been a Master Coach and Recruiting Director with multiple clubs throughout the Southeastern United States.

Tianlly Davila is entering her first season with the Bobcats. A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, she brings 15 years of playing experience, including 4 years as a collegiate student-athlete. Her experience playing different positions and at a different levels has helped her develop a strong understanding of the game.

Davila began her collegiate career at Frederick Community College, where she played Middle Blocker and Pin hitter before transferring to Cedar Crest College, where she transitioned to setter. Playing different positions helped her understand the game and develop High Volleyball IQ.

Davila is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management at Cedar Crest College and is expected to graduate in May 2027. She is excited to continue growing as a coach and use everything she has learned throughout her volleyball career to help athletes reach their goals both on and off the court.
