Women’s Volleyball Team Drops Matches Against Lake-Sumter & St. John’s River, Extends Active Losing Streak to Eight Games
PHSC has yet to find their footing in the Sun-Lakes Conference after losing back-to-back away matches this week.
On Thursday, September 17, the Bobcats faced #14 NJCAA-ranked Lake-Sumter State College (12-2) at the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Center in Leesburg, FL. PHSC would lose 3-0 in the match, recording their fifth shutout loss of the season.
Despite the Bobcats’ tough loss, several players stood out. Opposite hitter Barbara Luckert opened up the offense with a team-best seven kills. Meanwhile, setter Emma Hatzistefanou was able to reach assists in the double digits, recording 11 total.
On Saturday, September 19, the Bobcats would travel to Palatka, FL, to take on St. John’s River State College (14-4). The Vikings would defeat the Bobcats 3-0, ending PHSC’s brief away stint.
The Bobcats have a 5-11 overall record and are 0-8 in conference play. PHSC will return home and play against Pensacola State College (12-4) on September 25 at 5 p.m. EST.
Women’s Soccer Team Competes with Pensacola State College in First Inner-Conference Duel, Splits Matches
The Bobcats played their first conference matches of the regular season and provided plenty of action against Pensacola State College (1-5-1).
PHSC kicked off the two-match series on Friday, September 18, at Ashton Brosnaham Park. The Bobcats would secure the 2-1 victory over the Pirates. On the pitch, freshman Giada Chechile and sophomore Jada Lindo scored unassisted goals for Pasco-Hernando in the first half. Chechile would score the Bobcats’ first goal of the contest via penalty kick at the 20:00 mark. Lindo would then connect with the net at the 35:00 mark, taking PHSC up 2-0 before half.
The defense was also on point, particularly at the net, with freshman goalkeeper Olivia Frazier recording eight saves on nine shot attempts against Pensacola State College. With the upset, it marked the first conference win for the program in school history.
The following day, September 19, the Bobcats faced the Pirates to wrap up the weekend. Pensacola State College got the jump early as they scored three unanswered goals in the first half. PHSC would battle back to tie it 3-3. However, the Bobcats would give up two goals late in the contest, resulting in a 5-3 loss.
Pasco-Hernando sits with a 1-3-1 overall record and 1-1 in the conference standings. The Bobcats will head to Sarasota for a showdown against New College of Florida VR on September 26. The match has a start time of 5 p.m. EST.
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Teams Builds Momentum at FSU Pre-Regional
PHSC once again had a great showing on the track as the men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed in the FSU Pre-Regional on Friday, September 18.
On the men’s side, PHSC was the highest-ranked junior college team in the 8K. Sophomore Zachary Townsend was the Bobcats’ leading runner, finishing with a time of 26:17. Notably, Townsend’s time was three seconds shy of the school record, providing another successful performance for the Belleview native. Malik Millet, Jacob Steven, Miles Tobin, and Zeke Ahmed rounded out the top five for PHSC.
As for the women’s team, the Bobcats covered the 6K course and finished first among junior colleges. Sophomore Isabella Quinlan led the pack with a time of 25:09, followed by freshman Ainsley Aeschleman, who finished in 25:12. Rounding out the top five for scoring were Carlee Kromolicki, Kammy Enerson, and Emily Myers.
Both teams will travel to Huntsville, AL, for the On Twilight on PR’ville meet on September 25.
Women’s Softball Team & Men’s Basketball Team Gives Back to the Community, Partners with Special Olympics & Keep Pasco Beautiful
PHSC Athletics continues to give back to the community and strengthen local ties.
On September 12, the women’s softball team collaborated with Special Olympics Florida to make the game accessible for all. These athletes helped assess base running times, throwing measurements, defensive stops, etc.
Then, on September 19, partnering with Keep Pasco Beautiful, the men’s basketball team helped clean local roads via the Adopt-A-Road program.
We thank these organizations for giving PHSC Athletics the opportunity to make a positive difference.
District Board of Trustees Recognizes PHSC Student-Athletes Selected Into FCSAA All-Academic Team
On September 18, at the District Board of Trustees meeting, PHSC honored the fifty-two student-athletes who were selected into the FCSAA All-Academic Team. These individuals achieved a 3.30 GPA on a 4.00 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.
Student-athletes in attendance included Calen Wiggins (Basketball), Brandon Gonzales, Donald Dwire, Michael Greenberg (Baseball), Alana Carter, Avery O'Cull (Volleyball), Gabriella Grecco, Mackenzie Quartararo, and Lynneisa Whittington (Softball).
Congratulations to these student-athletes for their academic success!
